Terms of use

The rules for using the Luminova Kids website, materials and volunteer lessons.

1. Who we are

Luminova Kids is a volunteer education project and is not registered as a legal entity. We are not a school and do not issue educational qualifications. The responsible person is Dinara Valtova (Lviv, Ukraine), luminova.kids@gmail.com. By using the site you agree to these terms.

2. Free of charge

The site, the materials and tutor matching are free. We don’t sell anything. Donations are voluntary and don’t unlock anything — see Donations & refunds.

3. Learning materials

The texts, exercises, worksheets and audio were created by the project’s volunteers. You may, free of charge:

  • use them for learning at home, in class, in clubs and in tutoring sessions;
  • print them for yourself and your students;
  • share links to the site.

You may not: sell the materials or access to them, present them as your own, upload copies to other websites or platforms without our written permission, or extract and reuse the audio recordings separately.

Third-party elements have their own licences:

  • graphic elements in the PDF worksheets were made in Canva and are used under Canva’s licence — don’t extract them or use them outside the worksheets;
  • the Unbounded and Manrope fonts are distributed under the SIL Open Font License 1.1;
  • the image on the home page was created with artificial intelligence and does not show a real child;
  • the Luminova Kids name and logo belong to the project — don’t use them in a way that suggests you are acting on our behalf.

We try to keep the materials accurate but can make mistakes. Spotted one? Tell us and we’ll fix it.

4. Volunteer lessons

  • We only introduce a family to a volunteer tutor. Volunteers are not our employees and are not paid.
  • We can’t guarantee that we’ll find a tutor or any particular learning results.
  • The family and the tutor choose the time and video service. Either can stop the lessons at any time — just let us know.
  • We may end the participation of a volunteer or a family if these terms or a child’s safety are breached.

5. Keeping children safe in lessons

We ask parents to: stay nearby or in the next room during lessons for children aged 6–10; hold lessons in a shared room rather than the child’s bedroom; and tell us about anything that worries you.

Volunteers agree to:

  • talk to the child only during lessons and through a channel agreed with the parents;
  • never record lessons or take screenshots without the parents’ consent;
  • never ask a child for photos, their address or other personal details, add them on social media or suggest meeting in person;
  • never pass the family’s contact details to anyone else;
  • tell the coordinators immediately about anything worrying.

If a child is in danger in Ukraine, call 102. Ukraine’s national children’s hotline: 116 111.

6. Volunteers under 18

Volunteers must be at least 14. People aged 14–17 join only with the consent of their parents or other legal guardians, as required by Ukraine’s Law “On Volunteer Activity”. We issue certificates at the request of the volunteer or their legal guardian.

7. Third-party services and links

The site links to Google Forms, social networks, Quizlet and other services. They operate under their own terms and privacy policies, and we are not responsible for them.

8. Liability

The site and materials are provided “as is”. We can’t guarantee that the site will always work without interruption. To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect losses arising from using the site. Nothing in these terms limits the rights the law gives you, including consumer protection rights.

9. Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of Ukraine. We always try to resolve any issue by email first. If you live in the EU, you keep the mandatory rights given by the law of your country.

10. Changes

We may update these terms; the date of the latest update is shown at the top of the page.
